The more than impressive Cyberpunk 2077 demo from E3 2018 was the main thing all the gamers talked about. It was, of course, thanks to the new features of the game, but mainly thanks to the famous Cyberpunk districts.
Night City, is shown a lot in the demo, as the main game setting; but the places V visits, are just the tip of the cake. some additional information regarding the game’s setting as well as the player’s interaction with it was revealed through a pamphlet given to those who visited the E3 event. It was revealed that the Night City, where the main character V lives, is divided into six districts. Each of the districts represents a different aspect of the famous cyberpunk aesthetic.
We know you’re curious about the details, so here’s what we found out:
- City Center: As you can see from its name, it is the heart of the corporations and the main point of the city. The place of interest.
- Watson: It represents a fallen corporate district now populated mainly by immigrants, carving their way through the everyday life in narrow alleys.
- Westbrook: It is a work hard-play hard spot of the town. Mainly tourist- oriented; it represents luxury and all the pleasures of life.
- Heywood: This is a predominantly Latino area; a huge suburban district, with a gang problem no one actually talks about freely. If you are living here, your social position must be pretty high.
- Pacifica: This is a whole another face of the coin; the most dangerous part of town. A place of unexpected poverty, run by gang laws and fear. A place depicting fear.
- Santo Domingo: The power center of the entire Night City, thanks to the countless power plants and industrial factories. However, this district is stuck in an endless modernization cycle. A feature you never know if it is actually positive or negative
Yet another interesting thing is the fact that Cyberpunk 2077 will have vertical exploration. Let’s explain this feature a bit more. V’s apartment from the demo, for example, is located in a huge building with various floors. It actually means that each of the floors hosts multiple NPCs, secrets; as well as potential quests. Moreover, players will have the chance to further explore the city by car, by motorcycle, as well as vehicle combat. Thus having the chance to engage in the heart of the game even more.
We feel the need to repeat that Cyberpunk 2077 takes place in a huge urban environment clasping various warring factions. From what has been presented so far, there seem to be no load times, meaning the players will be able to explore the city both on foot and in their vehicle. The exploring can even include engaging in high-speed ventures on freeways, small, narrow streets, and alleys; thus leading to some of the let’s say grievous parts of the town.
As you’ll now more than able to see, the Cyberpunk 2077 districts are the high point of the game, no doubt about that. We’re sure you’ll enjoy discovering many other details during the actual game; we know we will.
