Through a trailer, Blizzard Entertainment confirmed an appearance at tonight’s Xbox & Bethesda Showcase, as well as an early access date for the long-awaited action sequel Overwatch 2.
The long wait for Overwatch 2 will be over on October 4, 2022, when Activision Blizzard will assist the sequel with an Early Access launch. At tonight’s Xbox & Bethesda Showcase, this was verified. As a result, the hero-based shooter will launch as a free-to-play title, along with at least two new heroes: Sojourn and Junker Queen.
The first release is dubbed Early Access because, as previously stated, it will first focus solely on Overwatch 2’s PvP component. At least two new maps will be available, one each for Toronto and New York City.
A new game mode named “Push” has been added, and old heroes are being changed; balancing tests have been conducted since the beginning of 2022.
In PvP, Overwatch 2 will feature a 5v5 system. However, the mission-based PvE component, which is also planned, has yet to be released.
The game will be available not only on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, but also for PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Playing on multiple platforms and progressing across them is possible.
